Commuter vs. Residential Camps $$$

We bring the best in soccer to YOU!

Every year thousands upon thousands of brochures are sent out advertising residential soccer programs. They list such items as their excellent facilities and fields, beautiful college campus, air conditioned rooms, and great meals. Amenities such as these greatly increase the cost of the camp and are in fact often disadvantages.

What about field conditions? While many colleges may have a great game field most camps are held on practice fields. The quality of fields is a low priority at many residential camps.

Beautiful college campus, while this may be true it has no value to the quality of training and instruction your player or players will receive.

Air conditioned rooms, they are only used at the end of each camp day, the same as a player  would be using  when he or she returned home at the end of a Golden Touch camp day.

What about the long walks from the dorms to the fields, from the fields to the cafeteria and back to the fields, then back to the dorms at the end of day. Is this taking away from training and instructional time?

Meals, cafeteria style, does your child get enough food and how is the quality? are they eating nutritional foods? Do you remember cafeteria style food?

Dorms, is a lights out policy enforced? Is your child getting enough sleep? Are they rested and ready to go the next day?

What about if your child gets a room mate he or she absolutely doesn't like? That will make camp interesting for the week.

These are legitimate questions you must address when considering the residential camp vs. the commuter camp programs.

Consider this in your thinking and decisions.

Children between the ages of 6 to 12 years old make up the largest group of participants attending instructional soccer programs. However, often at these ages, children do not wish to leave home and participate in a week long residential soccer program. Children in fact really love to share their experiences on a daily basis and look forward to returning home each day and sharing their experiences with their parents.

Once you drop off your child at a residential camp you never see how time is managed, and utilized, or if the quality of instruction stays consistent. By our camp coming to you, parents have the opportunity to see for themselves the quality of the Golden Touch staff and training program. We encourage parents, coaches, and soccer association members to come out and see your $$$ being well spent.

By Golden Touch coming to your area and utilizing your fields, we eliminate the additional costs of boarding, meals, field fees, higher insurance costs and other incidental costs associated with residential camp programs. Quite honestly, if you were to do a comparison study of our camp cost versus a residential camp cost you could, on average, have two weeks of our camp for the price of one week of a residential camp.

We wish to make camp as affordable as possible for all players and all families. By utilizing you fields and facilities  we can keep camp cost at an affordable range for most families, allowing many more players to benefit from the high quality of instruction from the Golden Touch staff, thus, exposing more children to the high quality soccer instruction.

If you really break down the benefits of a residential program versus the Golden Touch program only one real advantage exists In the residential program, you don't have to drop off and pick up your players daily. It is our experience and findings that often the disadvantage of daily drop off and pick up is overcome by parents helping each other by car pooling therefore negating the only true disadvantage of the commuter camp program.
